The Study of Youth Leaving Care in Quebec and France (SYLC)


SYLC will implement the first representative longitudinal study of young people leaving a place in out-of-home care in Canada. This study will contribute to the development of new knowledge by addressing a variety of care context for understanding the transition to adulthood of young placed and the different form of becoming.

Longitudinal Study

The completion of the longitudinal study, including three survey waves, will be preceded by the formation of a portrait of the population of all the youth leaving extended in-care   in Quebec.  Anonymous data, such as sociodemographic and clinical will be used.

Innovation and Commitment

Number of research projects with regard to youth engagement, complementary to the longitudinal study will take place and will be part of an evaluation process or international comparison.

Knowledge Mobilization

An interface offering knowledge and tools will be built in collaboration with partners and stakeholders as well as a quaterly documentary monitoring.

Expertise Development

SYLC aims to develop skills regarding habilities and training of young searchers, of postdocs , of doctoral and masters students, but also of stakeholders and actors of public policies.
